Music historians typically divide the history of ska into three periods: the original Jamaican scene of the 1960s; the 2 Tone ska revival of the late 1970s in Britain, which fused Jamaican ska rhythms and melodies with the faster tempos and harder edge of punk rock forming ska-punk; and third wave ska, which involved bands from a wide range of countries around the world, in the late 1980s and 1990s.
Presented is an original concert tour tee shirt for the West Coast Ska Fest. The white shirt is vintage and measures 17? across the chest and the 24.50? from top of collar seam to bottom. Vintage tagging is cut (L 42-44). Nice art portrait of the fest on the front and sponsorship/venue information on back. The shirt features discoloration spotting.
This lot is from the T-Shirt collection from the estate of Chuck Landis (aka Largo) veteran promoter, concert best known as co-founder of the Roxy West Hollywood rock club in the early 1970?s and in 1980. Many of the T-Shirts come from performances that were at the venue. They have been locked away for many until now.
The Rox bar was a regular hangout for John Lennon, Harry Nilsson, Alice Cooper and Keith Moon Heidi Fleiss in the 1980s. So you can only imagine what stories can tell?
